when i want to read the latest post, i have to wade through 3 pages of recent ones. I click on the latest post and am led to page one. Frank, am I doing something wrong, is there a better way to just "land" on the page that has the most recent post? thanks, jeanne

This is a known issue and an improvement is already in the work queue. Currently the default for a topic is the first page, to allow the reader to see the original theme post. Automatically jumping to the last post is equally frustrating for a new viewer of the topic.

The plan:

On arrival at the topic, give the user an option to jump to the last page.

On a new comment, display the last page of the topic.

This is all trickier than it sounds, so please hang in.

Patience is a virtue - of which I have few but I can say one of them is patience. Thanks Frank

As Betty got older, she, like all of us, encountered a changing world, and...stranger sometimes frightening people. Just read in "Anybody" the chapter about the evil woman Dorita. It gave me the creeps. And Mary would never listen to Betty about this awful woman. Betty had such good instincts and insights about people. That is a gift. Until we actually experience some strange or downright crazy people ourselves, the natural instinct is to sort of give the person the benefit of the doubt. After all, usually we have no experience in dealing with those who have crossed the boundary of normal or decent social behavior. I am silly enough to think...oh gee, it must be me making a big deal of this. OR worse,..I must have caused this person to react this way!! I have gotten better as I have gotten older, but still want to believe the best in people. I had a similar experience, but am not going to take the time to post it, unless other people began posting to the list! I feel as if I am sending my deep thoughts, haha. out into the lonely mist, and no one is paying any attention.

Jean I agree, Betty that this innate ability to see the good and the bad in people that others don't see.

Hi Jean Louise, John and everyone else! jean Louise, please don't feel like you are sending your thoughts no where. I enjoy reading them very much and am struck at how similar our thought patterns are. Maybe it's common for people who like to read about Betty to have similar personalities but some of the things you've written have really struck a chord with me--especially the post you made about being 15 minutes from home and wanting to get home as fast as you could. I ALWAYS feel that way! i work at a school so I have summers off but during the first weeks back I'm struck with the most awful case of homesickness--and my house is something like five minutes away. I am a homebody, through and through. I would like to be home all the time but I know that I need to get out once in a while or I would spend my days reading, watching Mission Impossible and Simon and Simon on television, and probably eating my way into a muumuu. So please keep posting! I like to think that there are people out there who love Betty as much as I do. I reread Onions this past weekend and really enjoyed the chapters on adolescence. My oldest son has been, shall I say, "challenging" lately so i need Betty's insight! I totally agree with you that she was gifted at reading people. That story about Dorita was very creepy. Betty was much nicer to her and more tolernt than i would have been. Keep posting!

Hello, again! Please let's reserve the Housekeeping topic for, well, housekeeping. Kindly borrow a theme and restart this conversation under General Discussion. In the long run, not to do so will make following threads more difficult and confuse new users. I cannot imagine these simple changes affect your credibility. -FA
