I just learned a writer named Abigail Carter bought Betty's cabin on Vashon. Her book came out this year and is about losing her husband on Sept. 11. She and her two children spend time in Betty's garden. I emailed her but have not had a response yet. Look at AbigailCarter.com and go to her blog to read about her buying the cabin.
Does anyone know if Judith is still running the B&B?
Kathy
p.s. how do I change my user name? I didn't mean to put my address.
Kathy, to change your user name you could contact Frankl or just delete your current username and creat a new one by creating a new account. Yes Judith still owns the B&B.
Hi everyone. I just figured out that I had to join the site and then found these forums. Thanks Kathy for letting people know about my book and website.
I wanted to let people know that this summer I am planning on renting out Betty's House very selectively. Given the economic downturn, I am needing to cover some costs. I have posted the link to the rental site in case anyone is interested.
The cabin is wonderful. I just spent a joyous Easter there making ham and scalloped potatoes for friends and family. The house has such a happy vibe.
There are a bunch of pics on the rental site too, for all those curious!
Its changed very little based on the pictures I have seen and also based on Heidi's (Betty's granddaughter) tour of it. She was amazed that I had Fiestaware for the dishware (they just suited the house so well), as I guess Betty had something very similar.
I have had the pleasure of seeing Betty's home on Vashon and I'm happy to say it has changed very little from Betty's time. I wouldn't call exactly call this lovely house a cabin, though it does have that cabinny look on the outside. It is just a lovely home, and I can see why Betty loved it and why Abby bought it. It's a bit tricky to get to, however.
Someone asked recently if it's possible to stay in Betty and Don's home on Vashon. Here's a discussion about it. The original home is a private residence, but there is a B&B on the property. It gets great reviews on Trip Advisor. You can Google it for contact info. I don't know if it's kosher to post a business's contact info here, but it's readily available on line.
Thank you Kathy for the name of the writer living at Vashon. I am trying to contact her
Please, it looks like the message are not working fine on the forum ?
