"Once upon a time, there was a curious little lady who lived in an upside-down house. She loved children, and they loved her. But she didn’t tolerate their exasperating habits. In fact, she was expert at fixing them," Charity Vogel writes in today's Buffalo News. She quotes Debbie Scott of FOBM as a primary source.

Vogel continues... "She let Patsy, who hated baths, get so dirty that radishes grew in her ears... And she let Hubert, who wouldn’t put away his toys, get so buried in his clutter that he couldn’t get out the door of his room. He had to eat dinner off a rake his parents held up to the second-floor window."
